FTTH provisioning & onboarding platform
Challenge: Manual CPE configuration and activation for thousands of FTTH subscribers was error-prone, slow and consumed significant NOC time. Each ONT and router required individual provisioning.
Approach: Built an in-house provisioning platform integrating TR-069 ACS, DHCP option injection and RADIUS authentication. Automated template-based config generation tied to the customer database and inventory system.
Outcome: Zero-touch CPE provisioning for new subscribers. Provisioning time reduced from hours to minutes. Error rate dropped to near zero. The same platform now handles all XINON FTTH activations.
OTDR measurement & handover automation
Challenge: Fibre handover between construction and operations required manual OTDR traces, PDF reports and email coordination. Results were inconsistent and hard to audit.
Approach: Developed a protocol automation pipeline that triggers OTDR measurements from the GIS planning database, collects traces, analyses fault locations and generates structured handover reports automatically.
Outcome: Consistent, auditable fibre handover documentation. Reduced handover cycle from days to hours. Automated pass/fail criteria eliminated subjective assessment.
100 Gbit/s core & 24/7 monitoring
Challenge: As the network grew from regional to 40+ PoPs with a 100 Gbit/s Juniper core, legacy monitoring could not keep up. Alert fatigue and fragmented dashboards made incident response slow.
Approach: Designed and deployed a unified monitoring stack covering core routers, optical transport, CPE and customer-facing services. Custom dashboards, correlated alerting and automated runbook triggers reduced mean time to detect.
Outcome: 24/7 core readiness with single-pane-of-glass visibility. Alert volume reduced by 60% through correlation. Incident response time improved significantly across all tiers.
GIS-based FTTH network planning
Challenge: Fibre network planning relied on spreadsheets, CAD files and paper maps. Route optimisation, splice documentation and inventory tracking were manual and disconnected.
Approach: Built a GIS planning platform integrating cadastral data, existing duct maps and customer premises databases. Automated route generation, splice calculation and material take-off for build projects.
Outcome: Planning cycle time reduced by approximately 40%. Consistent documentation from planning through build to operations. Real-time inventory visibility across all active and planned fibre segments.
